Temperature is the most important single factor preserving strawberry quality – efficient cold chain management from packhouse to consumer is the key.

This brochure helps you as quality manager, buyer or importer to identify and remedy fundamental hazards, which may drastically shorten shelf life time of strawberries during storage and/or transportation.

Emphasis is placed on the use of controlled atmosphere (CA) and modified atmosphere (MA) -namely the Tectrol®-system by TransFRESH – in order to exploit this second key factor influencing shelf life besides an effective temperature management (cold chain).
